Drywall screws are a type of self-tapping fastener, there is no need to pre-drill holes. These screws have a Philips head and a curved taper allowing them to self-pilot and install rapidly without punching through the paper. Dry Wall Screw have black surface coating which comes from a phosphate mineral. This coating helps to minimize rusting and corrosion as the screws are exposed to wet joint compound or paint.

The Pentagon drywall screws are case hardened and are designed with sharp metal piercing points and bugle shaped Philips head which ingeniously and securely fastens drywall to metal stud work without the head pulling thought the paper surface of the drywall.
